Domain Names & SSL Certificates
Protecting your name and securing your traffic
Domain Names
A domain name is your unique identity on the Internet. A domain (such as
netcentral.co.uk) can be used for email, websites and more. All domain names
with any provider operate on a first come first served basis so securing your
preferred name is absolutely paramount.
Having your own domain name means that you are provider and location independent
and should you move providers / supplier / location then your name moves with
you.
SSL Certificates
As more communications are put over the Internet, security and authenticity is
becoming more important. When browsing to your Bank's website you want to be
assured that your details will not be stolen, and that you are in fact browsing
the correct web site. Likewise if you run a website then your customers will
want to know they are safe on your website and also that you are who you say you
are.
SSL Certificates can also be used to secure many forms of communications other
than just web servers including email.
For more details please see the relevant tab.
SSL Certificates
Secure your on-line transactions
A SSL signed certificate enables your customers to buy with confidence from your
on-line shop. You can secure and encrypt your traffic with a self signed
certificate but, by getting your server certificate signed by a recognised
authority you are showing that you are a true legal entity. This signing process
removes the warning messages user may experience if the certificate authority is
not recognised as an official one.
